Masquerade

Mask reveal in the “Blue Room”, at Riverside Place, Spokane, WA.

Recently, I had the pleasure of creating a series of captivating images featuring one of my favorite models, Leah Clawson. Leah is truly an exceptional talent, bringing an incredible energy and enthusiasm to every project, which makes collaboration with her not only enjoyable but highly productive as well. We were fortunate to secure the "Blue Room" at Riverside Place in Spokane, Washington, for a creative afternoon session. This stunning venue originally opened its doors in 1905 as Spokane's Masonic Temple, and it has retained some of its original grandeur. The "Blue Room" is particularly enchanting, characterized by its ornate Egyptian-inspired decor, which includes striking papyrus columns and intricate symbolic motifs that transport you to another era.

This unique atmosphere provided a rich and vibrant backdrop for our masquerade-themed shoot. While working with Leah, we were thrilled to leverage the room’s distinctive charm and character to craft some truly stunning images. In one of the standout moments, Leah posed gracefully on one of the beautifully upholstered couches, elegantly holding a delicate mask that perfectly complemented the setting.

The decor itself played a vital role in our compositions, allowing us to harmoniously showcase not only Leah's remarkable beauty but also the intricate designs of the room. One of my most beloved shots from the day captures a close-up of Leah as she subtly reveals herself from behind the mask. This particular image encapsulates the essence of our shoot and serves as the centerpiece for this blog post, highlighting the profound connection between the model and the magical environment we were lucky enough to use. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love this art form so much.
